ϳԹ Sorted launch inspirational DVD

Published: 06/06/2016

ϳԹ’s Sorted Young Peoples’ Drug and Alcohol team recently launched an inspirational DVD made by young people to educate young people about the risks of cannabis use. “Young, Wild & Free” tells the story of how drugs can creep into your life and then consume it, leading to poor life choices. It is told in a non-linear style through the eyes and mind of lead character Beth. Two years in the making, the film has been funded by PACT (Partnerships and Communities Together), Gwirvol and ϳԹ Youth Work Strategy Support Grant and facilitated by TAPE Community Music and Film who filmed and edited the project. The short film was devised by ϳԹ Sorted Steering Group, who inspired the script and starred in the film. ϳԹ’s Cabinet Member for Social Services, Councillor Christine Jones, said: “This unique DVD is a fabulous educational resource. Our ϳԹ Sorted team will be delivering this to educate against prevention throughout ϳԹ high schools, colleges, pupil referral units, youth clubs and community projects. They will start delivering it as soon as possible this term and from September, it will be embedded into the curriculum to be shown during PSE sessions as part of our healthy schools programme. The DVD lasts 15 minutes, but there are opportunities to pause it to encourage group discussion.” L to R back row: High Sheriff Mr Jim OToole, Jordan Prain, Carl Jones, Jess Campbell, Sean Regan from ϳԹ Sorted, Cllr David Wisinger L to R middle: Kane Pearson and Morgan Wood L to R front row: Ryan Hughes, Cllr Christine Jones, Hannah Hunt, Charlie Eagle and Georgia Konkolewski ENDS Note to Editors Gwirvolis a uniquely Welsh, diverse partnership, promoting, supporting and driving forward youth volunteering.
