Ageing well in 窪蹋勛圖厙
Published: 12/11/2015
It is widely recognised that people are living longer.
Launched in October 2014, Ageing Well in Wales is a five-year partnership of
national and local government and major public and third sector agencies in
Wales whose aim is to ensure an improvement in the wellbeing of people aged 50+.
The Ageing Well in 窪蹋勛圖厙 plan identifies key actions in each of the five
priority areas defined in the Ageing Well in Wales programme that will
support older people to maintain their wellbeing and independence, these being:
繚 Age-Friendly Communities
繚 Falls Prevention
繚 Dementia Supportive Communities
繚 Opportunities for Learning and Employment
繚 Loneliness and Isolation
Whilst there is much to be celebrated, increasing age is linked to increases in
long-term health issues that can have a major impact on peoples lives and will
significantly impact on future demand for both health and social care services.
Ensuring that people have the means to age well and maintain their independence
will not only ease demands on services, but also safeguard their well-being
longer-term.
Well-being can only be assured through such things as continued learning,
leisure opportunities, good transport links and accessible facilities in the
local community. Working collaboratively with partners to ensure these services
and facilities are sustainable in the long term will ensure that not only is
窪蹋勛圖厙 a great place to grow older, but because we want to create
opportunities across the life course, it is also a great place to grow up.
Cllr. Christine Jones, Cabinet Member for Social Services said,
As well as living longer, older people quite rightly expect to continue to
live fulfilled lives and to make positive contributions to their families and
communities. As a society, we all benefit significantly from those
contributions and the Ageing Well in 窪蹋勛圖厙 Action Plan is a major step
forward to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to age well.
I would also like to acknowledge the significant contributions and commitment
of our partners who are pivotal to the Plans purpose to improve the
wellbeing of people aged 50+ in 窪蹋勛圖厙.
The Ageing Well in 窪蹋勛圖厙 plan is to be considered by the Councils
Cabinet at its meeting on Tuesday, 17 November.
