窪蹋勛圖厙 schools celebrate A Level Results
Published: 13/08/2015
There will be much celebration in 窪蹋勛圖厙 as the classes of 2015 receive
their A Level results. As the Local Authority received the aggregate results
from the Welsh Joint Education Committee (WJEC) figures showed that for
examinations taken with the Welsh board 97.6% of entries received pass grades.
The 窪蹋勛圖厙 2014 figure was 98.6% at this same stage. Once again, the
窪蹋勛圖厙 pass rate with the Welsh board compares well with the A Level Pass
rate for Wales as a whole, which at 97.3% is 0.2% lower than it was in 2014.
The proportion of grades in the A* to C range is 77.3% in 2015 compared to
79.0% of entries getting these grades in 窪蹋勛圖厙 in 2014, 76.3% in 2013 and
71.6% in 2012.
19.1% of 窪蹋勛圖厙 WJEC entries resulted in A* and A Grades compared to 18.1%
in 2014, and 23.1% across Wales as a whole. The 窪蹋勛圖厙 figure could be
significantly boosted this year when results in the Welsh Baccalaureate are
added as this qualification is graded for the first time in 2015.
Approximately half of the total of 窪蹋勛圖厙 entries at Advanced level are
with the Welsh Board and results from other boards are received later in the
day.
Councillor Chris Bithell, Cabinet Member for Education, said:
Having received the information for entries with the WJEC Examination Board,
the Council joins with parents, guardians and schools in celebrating their A
level results, and warmly congratulates all the students and their teachers on
their hard work and success.
窪蹋勛圖厙s students have worked hard to pursue demanding programmes of
study. I am delighted for all of them, and wish them every success as they
build on these results in their future University, College, Training and Career
pathways.
Chief Officer Education and Youth, Ian Budd, said:
These results clearly demonstrate the responsible and dedicated approach
窪蹋勛圖厙s students show towards their studies. I congratulate them all, and
commend their teachers, parents and carers for their consistent support. The
results are, once again, good news for 窪蹋勛圖厙s young people, their
families and the future of our communities.
Note to editors
At the time of this release, the information given is based on WJEC Board
information only. We await details from schools regarding the overall picture
once other data from exam boards based in England (which is not available
centrally to Welsh LEAs) has been processed. It is important to note that
about half of the entries in 窪蹋勛圖厙 schools are with WJEC, the others are
through the England Boards.
