Published: 02/07/2015

A new play structure for toddlers, and a dish roundabout, have been installed at Bron y Wern in Bagillt recently, thanks to a play grant from the Welsh Government of 瞿15,000 The Welsh Governments Securing Sufficient Play Opportunities for Children grant identified this location for enhancement, and the work was recently completed by 窪蹋勛圖厙. Councillor Kevin Jones, Cabinet Member for Waste Strategy, Public Protection and Leisure, who is also the local ward member, said: I am very pleased that we have been able to secure this Welsh Government funding for the children of Bagillt. This is a very welcome financial boost to help us to improve facilities at this play area for the youngsters using them. The new equipment has been well received by children, particularly those at the local school, Ysgol Merllyn. Deputy Headteacher, Mr John Green, said: The children are really impressed with the new equipment, and they are particularly drawn to the dish roundabout. Its wonderful to have this facility so close to the school. Play is important for children and its great to see them making the most of these play and leisure opportunities in their free time. Councillor Jones added: It is important to note that the refurbishment at Bron y Wern was not done under the Councils match funding scheme. However, it is to be welcomed that the Council is once again running its match funding programme to upgrade childrens playgrounds this financial year, working in partnership with town and community councils. In 2015/16, a total of 瞿105,000 will be made available on the same basis as previous years, with each town and community council invited to express an interest in participating in the scheme, and County Council funding being directed at areas in need. A maximum match funding contribution of 瞿10,000 will be available per scheme. Starting in April 2016, the Play Area Community Grant scheme will replace the current match funding scheme, with its primary focus being to support play areas that are transferred to communities.
