Advent calendars presented to Foodbank
Published: 20/12/2019
窪蹋勛圖厙 UNISON has once again co-ordinated a hugely successful collection of food boxes for the 窪蹋勛圖厙 Foodbank.
窪蹋勛圖厙s officers along with employees from Aura Wales, Theatr Clwyd and Wales Audit Office have come together to back a reverse advent calendar campaign.泭 This will go some way to ensure that the Foodbank shelves are adequately stocked over the busy Christmas period.
The Reverse Advent Calendar泭is a simple idea and a great way to support people who need a little help at Christmas by donating 30 items of food to the Foodbank. Sarah Taylor, Branch Secretary of 窪蹋勛圖厙 UNISON, said:
We have had an overwhelming response to our campaign.泭 窪蹋勛圖厙 employees from every department have got on board and donated to this very worthy cause.泭 We have collected over 70 boxes an increase from last year - and its fantastic to be able to hand them over to the volunteers from the Foodbank today.泭
It may surprise you to learn, but, in the last 12 months, UNISON 窪蹋勛圖厙 Branch has handed out a number of Foodbank vouchers.泭 This is a stark reminder that its local people in work as well as on Universal Credit who need extra help.
The Councils Chief Executive, Colin Everett, and Sarah were present to help hand over the parcels to Andy Leake from the 窪蹋勛圖厙 Foodbank, in time to distribute the items to families for Christmas.
Andy said:
Wed like to thank everyone for their support this food will genuinely make a difference to people in our local community.泭 We dont believe anyone in this day and age should have to face going hungry. Thats why, year round, we provide three days nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to us.泭 In the last four weeks alone we have fed 1,000 families from the 窪蹋勛圖厙 area and so we are really grateful for the support of UNISON and 窪蹋勛圖厙.
