£900,000 Boost for ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø manufacturers as Investment Zone delivers early results
Published: 30/06/2026
Local manufacturers are already reaping the benefits of the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø and Wrexham Investment Zone, with 15 local businesses securing a share of £898,461 in grants to fuel growth and job creation.
The funding, awarded by ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø, is expected to unlock a further £1.2 million in private sector investment, as businesses match fund their projects, taking total investment to over £2 million in the county’s manufacturing sector.
The scheme aims to help ºÚÁϳԹÏ꿉۪s small and medium-sized manufacturers to invest sooner, grow faster and compete more efficiently.Â
Projects backed so far are set to create 79 full-time jobs, while also enabling SMEs to invest in new machinery, automation, property improvements, energy efficiency, industry accreditations and wider productivity improvements.
Support has reached businesses across Greenfield, Saltney, Sandycroft and Mold, alongside key industrial estates across the county, demonstrating the strength and breadth of ºÚÁϳԹÏ꿉۪s manufacturing base.
Demand for the scheme has been so strong that the current round is now fully subscribed and temporarily paused, with further funding expected to reopen in the autumn.
Councillor Dave Hughes, Leader of ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø, said: “This is exactly what the Investment Zone was designed to do. Back our local manufacturers to grow, invest and create jobs.
“We’re already seeing businesses bring forward plans to modernise equipment, expand capacity and improve efficiency. These are projects that might not have happened without this support.
“Just as importantly, every pound of public funding is being matched by businesses themselves, unlocking significant private investment into ºÚÁϳԹÏ꿉۪s economy. The level of demand we’ve seen shows real ambition in our manufacturing sector, and we’re looking forward to reopening the scheme in the autumn to support even more firms.â€
The grant programme is a key part of the wider Investment Zone, helping to strengthen ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø and Wrexham’s manufacturing base, drive innovation and support long-term economic growth across the region.
The ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø and Wrexham Investment Zone programme is supported by both the UK and Welsh governments and co-ordinated by Ambition North Wales.
