£3.65m boost for transport projects across ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø

Published: 23/03/2026

ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø is set to benefit from a major £3.65 million investment to improve public transport, active travel infrastructure and road safety across the county.

The Welsh Government funding will support the delivery of key priorities set out in the North Wales Regional Transport Plan (RTP), helping to create safer, better-connected communities which are sustainable for the future.

ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø will use the funding to progress a number of schemes designed to improve travel options, increase active travel (walking, cycling and wheeling), reduce reliance on private vehicles and make key routes safer for all road users.

Among the projects awarded are £800,000 for an active travel route between Bagillt and Greenfield, £500,000 for active travel links to the A494 River Dee Bridge and £100,000 towards a new ‘Fflecsi’ rural bus service.

Money has also been allocated for street lighting upgrades and the installation of electric vehicle chargers in public car parks.

These projects will contribute to wider ambitions to improve connectivity across North Wales, along with boosting economic growth and tackling climate change by supporting a shift towards more sustainable travel.

Councillor Glyn Banks, Cabinet Member for Waste and Transportation, said: “This funding means we can get on with delivering practical improvements that people will notice day-to-day.

“We know people want safer, easier and more reliable ways to get around, and each of these exciting schemes will help make that a reality.

“The improvements we’ll be able to deliver with this funding will help us to keep building a transport network that works for everyone.â€
